Back then a hairnet as headgear
was legal to wear and either you wore tube socks or no socks.
And look at those plaid shorts!

Well the
pace line hasn't changed much since 1966.
And look at all those sponsors they had back then on the fence.

a couple of aspiring cycling youths getting ready for a chariot

Don't you wish this Derny was still at the track!

Back in the early days at Encino, practically everyone s
jersey looks the same; this would be a tough group to run a Madison
race with... WOW! Look at that apron...how you would've
wanted to stay away from it back when it was like this.

They must
of hated rolling on the apron when it was like this. I'm not
sure what would've been worse, hitting the apron or side swiping
the rail. OK, OK, I know I'd rather eat dirt any
day, than pierce my arm and leg with wood shavings from the railing.

This is
a serious bunch. Nowadays we have all those signs in the back
plastered on everyone's jerseys.

The caption
reads: Charlie "Pops" Morton and "Peanuts" Bobby
Kemp pose for close-up shot. Morton, former Olympic Champion and
Six-Day rider, has been training this young American hopeful. "Peanuts"
Kemp, a 14 yr. old youngster, may well become one of America's
greatest cyclists.
